A kiss.

leave a comment »

A kiss can say hello.

A kiss can say goodbye.

A kiss can say, “I know it was you Fredo, you broke my heart”

A kiss can say “Thank you”

A kiss can say, “I’ll thank you later”

A kiss can say just about anything.

I share a kiss.

What does that say to you?

Two wheels..or Four?

with one comment

For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted a motorcycle.  Speed, power, agility, bikes are just sexy.  Open roads, blue sky, sun beaming down, wind roaring all around you.  Yeah, I could totally get into that.  The drive to Whistler, and through to Lillooet, past Clinton, would easily be a bike trip I would take.  As would the drive from Nanaimo to Tofino.  Both roads are straight out of video games.  (Mom, if you are reading this, I didn’t speed, uh, honest!).

Of course, those who know me have all suggested it may not be in my best interest TO own one.  Now, while I feel I’ve settled down and no longer pose a threat to myself, I still tend to agree…besides, frankly, I don’t trust a most BC drivers to watch out for me as it is.  People are crazy out there.  Doing makeup in the car, reading the paper, eating cereal out of bowls, reading maps; and combinations of all the above.  In rush hour.  While it rains.  Simply crazy.

I have far too much to live for, and quite enjoy the use of all my appendages, to ever get a bike.  I’ve made a deal with myself, and with Maggie.  One day, when we can afford it, we’ll get a roadster instead, and make that drive to whistler count!

As for two wheels…this will be as close as I get. And I’m ok with that.

Some time soon, expect some images of 4 wheels I’d like to make said drive in.

Until tomorrow.

Chase the Rainbow!

leave a comment »

Everybody loves a Rainbow.  And Raymond, but only one was viewable today!

On my way downtown, driving in some wacky west coast weather (Sun, slush and hail)…I noted a rainbow formation across Vancouver Harbour and chased the thing.  Well..chase isn’t quite accurate, but rather looked for the best possible view of it.  After driving around, I settled on this shot, mostly out of fear it would fade before I ended up with SOMETHING.

I did this once before in Denver, Colorado while driving on the highway after work.  I ended up getting caught in a flash storm with golf ball sized hail.  In a convertible, this isn’t good.  After pulling over, I caught a glimpse of the shot below, and immediately took off (with the roof now up), in pursuit.

The thing I love about them both, is the size.  Note the tractor in the bottom right of the Denver image.  Ahh Rainbows…so calming!

See you all tomorrow!

Being a dad

leave a comment »

Not always the easiest job, but certainly very rewarding.  Even more so, when you find messages like this around the house:

Kids are challenging, but it is heartwarming to know that despite the groundings, despite ‘being the bad guy’, they know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, Dad has their back.  Period.

Am I the best dad I can be?  Not sure.  I’m trying though, and that is all any parent can really do, right?  Warm beds, food on the table, guidance when life gets tough for them, or, in Ethans case, someone to buy him popcorn.  I’ve never met anyone who loves popcorn like that kid…oi!  We should buy stocks in Kernals.

Regardless of his love of Popcorn, Ethan is, and will always be my buddy.  I use to refer to him as my little buddy, but … well .. as kids are wont to do, he’s growing, and is almost as tall as me now.  The term ‘Little’ doesn’t seem to apply anymore.  It happens too damn fast.

BUT, even with him getting older, I still woke to this today:

The exclamation mark looks like a middle finger, but still, made me feel better on a day where I needed it.  Feels great to be a dad.

Pictures, 359 days a year?

with 2 comments

With every new year comes new opportunity, renewed hope, refreshed spirits, and hopefully, not too bad of a holiday hangover!  My holidays were fantastic, the hangovers, few, and spirits raised.  2011 also comes with the cliché resolutions; which I have, to this point in my life, never made.

I now figure it is time to change some things.  Starting with some resolutions.  Of course, in typical style, I’m starting mine 6 days into the year.  I’m over it.  You should be to!

Back to the subject at hand, my resolutions:

1 – Exercise.  I don’t mean ‘exercise more’, I mean ‘exercise at all’.  I’ve never been one to do this.  Ever.  “They” tell me it’s good for me.  I’ll sleep better, feel better, be happier, all that goodness.   Let’s see if they know something I don’t.  2011 – get fit.  Plus, need to look great for the wedding.  (April 21, 2011 for those keeping track!)

2 – Pick the hockey blogging up.  I love hockey.  No really.  There are no other sports to me outside of Hockey.  I’m the type of fan that will watch the draft, I circle the trade deadline on the calendar and watch TSN for hours while Gord, Bob, Pierre, and endless other experts cover the action from every conceivable angle.  The world needs another hockey blog, and I intend on fulfilling that need.

3 – Push myself to take, edit and publish, a picture a day.  This idea is completely inspired by my good friend Randy Daly, who is doing the same thing on his end.  It’s fitting.  We both picked up cameras at the same time (Nikon D70s), have both taken the same classes together (Focal Point, hey Aura! hugs!), and now both own Canon 5D MKii setups.  Why shouldn’t we both do photos of the day?

As irony, coincidence, happenstance, would have it; we’re sharing the same theme today for pictures.  (We chased a train; go fig, we caught it).

Without further delay, the images today.  See you all tomorrow!
